    UX/UI Research

Following a successful RFP process, we were thrilled to transition ITechLaw’s Drupal site to a robust WordPress platform. This move enhanced their ability to easily manage content, introduced mini-sites to give each event the attention it deserves, and added features to better serve their members.

Before development, we conducted an extensive UX research phase, ensuring every design and development decision was driven by data. This process helped us reorganize the site’s information architecture, ultimately creating a streamlined backend for ITechLaw’s team to manage content, all while incorporating complex dynamic data relationships behind the scenes.

Powered by Research

We approached the opportunity to reshape ITechLaw’s web presence with a data-driven, methodical strategy, ensuring every decision was informed by real user experience. The client embraced this approach, and we conducted a comprehensive analysis using data from Google Analytics, heatmaps, screen recordings, and user tests to identify key obstacles.

Our findings revealed significant challenges in navigating the events section and inconsistent page layouts, which made the site feel disjointed. These insights provided clear direction for the design and development phases that followed.

Sleek, Tech-Forward Design

The partner envisioned a site that would appeal to all levels of legal professionals by balancing a professional, cutting-edge look. We achieved this with dynamic linework, engaging imagery, and layered elements, creating depth and visual interest while maintaining a clean, authoritative style. This approach carried through every page layout, presenting information clearly with tasteful ornamentation.

As a leader in technology law, ITechLaw’s site subtly reinforces their expertise through visual cues, like circuitry nodes and tech-inspired textures, providing a nod to their tech focus. To enhance engagement, we added smooth scroll-triggered load-in effects, creating an immersive experience for users.

Event Mini Sites

ITech Law's home page for individual event mini sites.

Each ITechLaw event is rich with details—agenda, speakers, location, and more—so we created dedicated mini-sites to present this information in a well-organized, user-friendly format. Each section has its own page, accessible via a sub-navigation bar within the event mini-site, ensuring seamless navigation.

The event homepage provides a comprehensive overview with optional sections for hotel info, a countdown, conference co-chairs, highlighted events, sponsors, and various CTAs, allowing prospective attendees to access critical information at a glance.

The agenda page, a key area for users and a previous pain point, was redesigned for usability. We added a ‘Highlighted Sessions’ section to feature must-attend talks, with selections controlled on the backend. Each day’s schedule is segmented with accordions, allowing users to quickly find specific dates, and additional visual separation between items makes browsing easy.

Each event’s committee includes key ITechLaw members, organized by hierarchy. The mini-sites pull this information from a master index, streamlining updates and enabling flexible management of committee roles for each event.

New Member Pop-Up

To support ITechLaw’s goal of member recruitment, we developed a conditional pop-up that cross-references visitor IP addresses with the database of current members. If the visitor is new, the pop-up encourages them to sign up, enhancing engagement with prospective members.

Finalizing the Fine Print

With the site launched, the verdict is in: a successful, professional rebuild that aims for high-powered functionality with an interface that feels simple and accessible. We are incredibly proud of the work on this project and are currently enjoying watching the success of this new digital event landscape.
